On the 26^th of August 2019, one of our American members, CancerCare,announced that it would hold a charity 5K event on the 15^th of September at Overpeck County Park, 199 Challenger Road in Leonia, N.J, the first event of its kind.

The family friendly event will raise funds for CancerCare’s free services, as well as raising awareness about their vital work.

To celebrate their new Pet Assistance and Wellness programme (PAW), which helps cancer patients care for their dogs and cats, dogs are invited to join in.

Participants are to check in at 7:45am as the Fun Run kicks off at 9am, followed by the children’s Fun Run at 10:30am.

Kathy Nugent, director of regional programmes at CancerCare, praised the generous contributions the charity had received and said that she ‘couldn’t be more excited’ for their first event to feature dogs.

There will be awards for the top finishers, the top individual and team fundraisers and even one for all the participants.
