A study published by The Lancet shows that there has been a ‘notable’ decrease in the number of new cancer diagnoses since the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands.

One possible cause for this increase is that patients with non-specific symptoms felt they ‘faced barriers’ which made access their general practitioner more difficult.

Another was that some GPs were delaying further tests if the patient’s initial symptoms did not appear to indicate for cancer.
