ILC2 Round 5

Lung Cancer Management – The Challenge

From the Lung Ambition Alliance website, October 2023.

There remains considerable variation in the management of lung cancer around the world. Access for patients to important diagnostics, treatments and support programs varies markedly.

Our Solution

ILC2: Initiatives in Lung Cancer Care, a Global Funding Opportunity to Transform Patient Care and Improve the Patient Experience

The ILC2 program supports patient and caregiver organizations registered as non-profit in their country to propose and conduct projects that can potentially transform patient care in countries around the world.

The program recognizes the high variation in lung cancer management around the world, and the very specific local barriers to quality care that must be considered when developing patient-centric solutions to address them.

Over the last 4 years, projects from 26 countries have been granted support to address various points along the patient journey. Please click here to read more about the awarded projects from previous round 4: https://www.lungambitionalliance.com/News/initiatives-in-lung-cancer-care-round-4-awardees.html

This year, in addition to support for projects that will transform care for non-small cell lung cancer patients throughout their journey, we are able to make additional grants to focus on innovations in the care of patients with small cell lung cancer.

Round 5 is Now Open!

Full details of the eligibility and priorities for the grant program are provided in the detailed Guidance for Applicants below. For this round, we particularly encourage applications from, and will prioritise grants to, organizations working to improve lung cancer care in Asia. The program recognizes the high variation in lung cancer management around the world, and the very specific local barriers to quality care that must be considered when developing patient centric solutions to address them. Selected projects, awarded in 2020, 2021 and 2022, received a total of nearly $2.8M. ILC2 projects span the globe, across 26 countries, and target aspects of local areas and country-specific health systems. They outline a variety of approaches – including digital and mobile platform innovation, emotional support groups and hotlines, care for targeted subpopulations, and efforts to improve screening and diagnosis – to address different points along the patient journey.

The Lung Ambition Alliance invites local patient organizations around the world to develop and submit pilot projects that can potentially transform patient care and improve survival at the local level.
