November is designated Lung Cancer Awareness Month (LCAM) worldwide.

Many of our member organisations are engaged in promoting awareness via their own activities and campaigns. We will update on these throughout the month.

To start, we are sharing this, from our colleagues at the Lung Cancer Policy Network:

Currently, many people with lung cancer are diagnosed at a late stage. This is a primary reason why the disease is still the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide.

This Lung Cancer Awareness Month, the Lung Cancer Policy Network is highlighting the need to detect lung cancer earlier.

When lung cancer is detected early, people benefit from expanded treatment options that can improve quality of life, reduce associated costs and transform the disease into an oftentimes treatable condition.

Targeted screening using low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) is the most effective method for early detection. But other approaches should also be considered and implemented. The Network offers a range of resources to advocate for earlier detection and to support those working to implement screening initiatives and programmes in their countries.

To further drive efforts to detect lung cancer earlier, the Network will be hosting a webinar on 13 November.  #DetectEarlySaveLives #LungCancerAwarenessMonth
